Barolo

PRODUCTION AREA
Grapes from the vineyards at ‘Bricco San Pietro’, located in the village of Monforte d’Alba, in the south of Barolo area. The land boasts the presence of marl of Sant’Agata, as wellas areas where a soil of the Tortonian age prevails.
The exposure of the vineyards is a west/southwest. Altitude of about 350m a.s.l., average age of vines of 15/20 years and density per hectare of about 4,500 plants.
WINEMAKING
Grapes harvested by hand. After gentle destemming, the juice fermented for around four to five weeks in a steel tank, in contact with the skins. This period included pre- and post-ferment maceration, involving the traditional submerged- cap method.
24 months in French oak barrels sur lies.
PROFILE
Intense garnet-red colour. The nose, while stark to begin with, reveals complex floral notes that emerge after a few minutes in the glass. Striking notes include red fruit, chalk and whitepepper.
It is fine on the palate, with hints of ripe red berries. The taught, compact tannins make this a very classic wine. The acidity is vibrant and vertical.
Very elegant and refined. We recommend decanting a few hours before serving.
